I moved from Mexico City to LA, and somewhere in the process of making a home away from home, I realized how much I had to learn about finding things that actually felt like me.
I started looking everywhere.
I wanted pieces that felt different. Alternatives to the generic design I kept seeing everywhere. Objects with an interesting point of view, beautiful materials, unexpected details, and those hidden gems you don’t find just anywhere.
And in the process of looking, I discovered that finding things you genuinely love is not always that easy.
There are thousands of stores, endless options, and more design inspiration than ever. Yet somehow, it can still feel like everything looks the same.
So I started paying more attention.
I learned where to look. I learned about materials, craftsmanship, designers, makers, and all the small details that can completely change the way an object feels.
I also started to understand that developing your own taste isn’t necessarily about knowing exactly what you like.
Sometimes, it’s about learning what you don’t like.
It’s about asking why something feels right. Why some objects feel timeless. Why certain materials become more beautiful as they age. Or why we become attached to some things and not others.
That process eventually led me to create Fely Home; the website I wished I had when I first started looking.
But along the way, I realized I didn’t just want to share the things I found.
I wanted to share what I was learning.
The ideas that make me think. The things that inspire me. My opinions, my discoveries, the questions I keep coming back to, and of course, the hidden gems I find along the way.
Because for me, design has never really been just about how something looks.
It’s about how it makes you feel.
Why you choose it.
Why you keep it.
And why, years later, you still don’t want to replace it.
So this is a place for all of that.
A place to talk about interiors, objects, materials, designers, places, ideas, and everything in between.
Sometimes we’ll have an answer.
Sometimes we’ll just have a question.
But we’ll always be looking for something a little more interesting.
